Welcome to WIPpet Wednesday, a weekly blog hop which encourages writers to move WIPs (works-in-progress) to publication by posting excerpts related to the date. We’re led by the capable fingers and nimble mind of Emily Wrayburn.
Hello there, fellow WIPpeteers – and, to those just along for the ride – welcome! Hop in, get comfy…but don’t leave popcorn in the center seat!
By the time I post next week, I’ll be the mother of a sixteen year old, and he should have taken his learner’s permit test, in preparation for getting his license!
But now it’s time for another installment of my finally-getting–sassy-TnT fan fiction story, adapted from Humanity’s Enterprise . It’s a patchwork of stories, written in different styles, at different times, and for different projects. I’m slowly figuring out how to pull them all together into a coherent whole that explores just how and why T’Pol was the one Vulcan chosen to accompany Enterprise NX-01 on her maiden voyage.
I’ve decided to use this story, once revision gets to a point I’m comfortable with, as my intiation into Wattpad. So please don’t hesitate to let me know if something’s not working for you – it will make a better story in the long run!
T’Pol is having difficulty adjusting to duty on a human ship – and to her responses to a certain human male’s offer of a handshake.
Here’s the standard disclaimer. I don’t own them; I don’t make money from them; I just love them, and I tell the stories they give me as well as I can.
- Today is August 30, 2017.
- I have 21 sentences for you today – for the digits in the month, day, and year, added together.
“It’s All Yours”
The sharp whine of overloaded circuitry came from her left, accompanied by an acrid scent, and the Terrans at the table leapt away from it. As though able to sense the problem through walls and doors, Commander Tucker burst from the passageway behind her. “Move it or lose it,” he said, and pushed past her, his scent and energy disturbing the calm she was attempting to regain after his closeness in the Ready Room.
“Damn it, you people trying to burn the ship down before she even launches? And in front of our chaperone?” He went to the wall and pressed a button, and a chemical mist emerged from the ceiling. “I made sure the fire suppression system was up even before life support. Did all the work in an EV suit. There was a reason for that. I want a report on just how it got turned off in one hour – tops. If I don’t get it, I’ll have you all checking EPS conduits and scrubbing plasma injectors on double shifts for the entire mission. Now, get that table repaired, get me a report, and, if anything else sparks up, and that system doesn’t come on like it’s supposed to, I’m leaving you all here and starting over, because you’ve got no business wearing those red stripes or the uniforms they’re on.”
With the emergency abated, and the Bridge suddenly devoid of human verbalizations, he turned to T’Pol. “Suppose you’ll be tellin’ old Soval all about this little mishap.”
“I simply wish to assume my station.” She wouldn’t allow his presence to affect her. Certainly not while she was on duty. Nor would she admit she didn’t know where her duty station was located.
“Well, assume away, then.” He gestured to the station nearest the lift doors. “It’s all yours, Sub-Commander.”
Will T’Pol respond to Trip’s sharp tone?
Will she even notice it?
Will there be another fire?
