I Have to Stay: #StoryADay May; Day Twenty-Five

The Prompt:

  • Write a prose sonnet: a story 14 sentences long.

I Have to Stay

I need somehow to find a way

To come to acceptance within

with the fact I’m going to stay

Here, with my sister Marilyn.

This is by far the hardest thing

I’ve ever even tried to do.
I just came for a summer fling.

A chance to see someplace new.

How was supposed I to suspect

the sister who seemed so happy

was the victim of parental neglect

or how deeply she hates me?

I’m not ready for this in any way –

But I’m all she has, I have to stay.

Has Ophelia convinced herself to stay?

Can she help Marilyn?

What will it cost her?

Any guesses?

Come back tomorrow for another installment, and we can explore this new story seed together!

I am myself. I own my life, and live with three other people who own theirs. My intention is to do only those things that bring me joy, and to give myself wholly to those things I do. Writing has been my passion throughout my life, and this will become the home for my writing life...because it brings me great joy!

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
