Sowing Something Different: May 24, 2017

Hi there!

There’s a change in the wind….

I don’t know yet where it will carry me – but the revision course, the marketing course, the new commitment to my personal fitness, embracing our business ventures, and the changing dynamic of life with older, far more independent kids -all of these are adding up to something rising up within me…something that will eventually break the ground, grow, and blossom…

I’m not going to rush it. I’m just going to prepare, so I’m ready when it arrives, as it eventually will. You may see it before I do, if you read here regularly.

Have you ever felt this way – as though there’s something Big and Exciting happening inside you, and you’re shifting into some new version of yourself?

Secondary goal. (1/4 hours strenuous). 111: 2/5. 123: 0/ 2.

Leaps of Faith:

  • Marketing: Sign up for and keep up with fellow writer (and unschooling mom) Gwen Montoya’s 30 day course, Building Your Marketing Muscles. This will help both my Accomplice and I as we move forward to the place where we are selling our creative efforts. Caught up on group page; simmering some of the more involved tips and brainstorming for business plan.

  1. Maybe spring brings us back to possibility. This was the longest winter, cold, dark, and filled with snow. Now, each green leaf is unfolding into summer with our first day this week of 80-degree weather. I appreciate your reading other writers’ beta reads (including Fallon!), for I’m practically holding my breath, waiting for comments due this month. But discipline, as your post here shows, goals + commitment. Wait and, meanwhile, persevere with other tasks. And let that creativity simmer.

    1. I always learn things when I beta, and, since my current “sticking point” is revision, that’s at least as valuable to me as it is to the beta writer. AND I get to read brand-new stories, and maybe even help them on their way to being greater than they were – that’s a win all around! Thing is, I’m not very fast at it -but maybe that’s a good thing, because I am thorough.

For me, always having something else I can be doing saves me from getting too attached to any particular part of the process. I’m pretty good at filling waiting time.

What I am learning now is how to narrow the focus without losing that ability to move on to something else. I’m brainstorming for a business plan – eventually, I’ll have three major focuses, and my goals will fit into those…eventually. =)

And definitely, let that creativity simmer! It’s chilly and rainy here today, but that’s actually nice. I’ve been outside every day this week, and a quiet cozy day mostly inside seems to fit my mood. I’ll be moseying from one thing to the next, hopefully with lots of room for reflection and potential revelation.

May your day be filled with all the best parts! =)

  2. Looks like a good bit of progress there. Yay on catching up on Story a Day.
And I can’t wait to read your comments on Chapter 1…well, I will wait, until my editing hour. 😉

    1. Now that is self-control.

I feel a binge of Story A Day posts coming on…I’m now debating whether to get my freshly revised TnT WIPpet up, or go to bed…I will be simmering ideas for today’s stories, either way.

I hope you’ll find the comments useful!

      1. I’m supposed to be writing now. *looks at blank scrivener doc* yeah. Also working on today’s Story a Day post. At least I’ve got about 40 minutes until I need to switch over to chores.
I was able to read the general comments on my phone, was not surprised to see “more sensory and setting detail”. 😉 Once kids are on the bus this morning, I’ll be able to look at it.

        1. I’m never surprised to see it in my writing, either (which is probably why I notice it so quickly)…

I’m thinking sleep is going to win. I’ll post the WIPpet first off, then the stories, then some of the revision stuff, then some focused blog catchup, then marketing and label-making.

Have a good morning…see you for the sprint! =D

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
