Building While Traveling: January 15, 2017

Hey there!

It was a busy week of coming and going, doing and being…and, somehow, I managed to cross a few goals off my list, move several further along, and even start a couple I hadn’t gotten to. As I enter the second half of the month, things are looking pretty good for a fine month.

  • #atozchallenge: Complete essays for T-Z posts. Primary goal. I decided to get this out of the way Wednesday night, and wrote the seven remaining essays: 26/26 and goal completed.

  • Kifo Island: Write 5,000 words/week The Far Shore (KIC #6), until complete. Secondary goal. Scene 14/24 in early progress. 5,270/5000 weekly words; 43,828/~65,000 total.

  • Patreon  Posts – Complete January/March offerings. Tertiary goal. Made initial list of what I’ll need each month.

  • Fan Fiction: Draft one new chapter each for “Arachnid Nebula,”  and “A Beagle’s Bedside Manner.” Side goal. Chapter Two of “Arachnid” installments #2: 560 words; and #3: 435 words; as JJJ posts. Chapter complete.

  • Rose and Jeremy novella: Plan/plot “Tuesday Afternoon Tea” using The Story Toolkit and existing notes. Develop one-paragraph sketches for remaining 3-5 stories. Primary goal. Ordered new black printer cartridge so that I can print the worksheets. Simmering.

  • Kifo Island: Select April and July novels. Create rough AeonTimeline  for first six novels/ select and place April and July novels. Secondary goal. Created timeline; added all ten currently drafted or projected novels. Goal completed.

  • The IDIC Romance/Trueborn Warp: Begin TnT fan fiction – Enterprise/TOS crossover epic timeline; place general events. Take notes and simmer future projects during timeline creation. Tertiary goal. Began tracking IDIC events through end of Season One on paper.

  • Short Stories: “Miss Spider and Mister Fly”; Complete edits. Primary goal. First pass edits complete.

  • The IDIC Romance: Progress with revisions for First Contact; With Jazz Review A Backdrop of Stars  1-3 (already posted) and revise 4-7 for posting. Tertiary goal. FC,WJ: See below.

  • Work through Holly Lisle’s Revision Course (using “FC,WJ,”) first 3 lessons. Side goal. Lesson 2/22: working through Main Character Re-focus Worksheet; 4/8 characters complete: materials ordered for Lesson 3, which is ready when I am. I got behind schedule due to a week of going and doing that was better suited to less intensive projects, but I expected that.

  • Blog Hops: Just Jot It January; Write 333 word stream of consciousness vignette for each day’s topic; complete guest posting duties as assigned. #atozchallenge: Complete any loose ends and unfinished business, move all posts to blog interface. Primary goal. #JusJoJan: 14/31 complete. I’m guest hosting Sunday-Tuesday; Sunday post scheduled; 1/3 complete. Simmering a guest post. #atoz: Week One: Post moved to blog interface; Week Two: Links added to F and G posts; 6/6 complete.

  • Blog/Website Interface: Begin duplicate posts on blog and two-way linking. Side goal. The duplication is spotty, still, but I’ve started; created a sidebar icon for the WP blog, and verified my top of page website link. Goal completed.

  • Dark and Bitter anthology: “Miss Spider and Mister Fly”: Return edited mss to editors; follow up as needed. Primary goal. Reviewed and polished; submitted first revision.

  • Resets/reorganizations: study, family room, and kitchen. Complete three 27 thing flings each room, each week. Bedroom, living room, and bathroom: one 27 thing fling each room each week. 27 General Hometending rounds weekly. Secondary goal. Family room: 3/3.General: 30/27. It’s hard to get to the kitchen with my Accomplice home and using it. I supplemented with more general cleaning to keep my rounds on par. I may adapt the goal.
  • Personal Administration: Clean, organize, and back up all designated fiction files. Maintain Blogging/ Homeschool directories. Sort and delete excess mail Homeschooling, and Transactions in Progress folders. Tertiary goal. Into the tertiary round of folder sorting/organizing; this is a large directory, and will take several more sessions to complete.
  • Photo digitalization: Scan 27 travel photos per week; save in organized files with backup. Side goal. 30/27 photos selected; all photos divided into 30 photo groups; 12 in total.

  • My beloveds: One on one time with each, doing something of value to us both, each week. Primary goal. Couples’ workout; canoodling; chatting.

  • Continue planning/ attending outings (personal and family) as desired. Secondary goal. Lots of plans; workout/errands; Miah clothes shopping; coffee date for me with a friend on Wednesday; workout/swim Thursday; Miah to his weekend plans on Friday.

  • NNWM local group: Interact regularly, in person and online; participate actively in critique group. Tertiary goal. Second piece highlighted for comments; page 2/19 complete.

  • Paying it Forward: Offer beta reading, reviews, and promotional posts for other writers. Side goal. Offers are out; I’m not doing so well at fulfilling – that’s going to happen this week.

  • Journal six mornings and three evenings each week. Meditate five mornings and two evenings weekly. Primary goal. Morning journal/meditation: 7/6; Evening journal/meditation: 2/3.

  • Get a cumulative total of at least 90 minutes moderate physical activity 6 days weekly, and 6 hours of more strenuous activities (tai chi, swimming, hiking, cardio, weights, etc.) monthly by end of round. Secondary goal. Moderate: 7/6. Strenuous: 4.85/6 hours: weights; swimming.

Leaps of Faith:

  • Reading: Finish listening to Alexander Hamilton audiobook; read two other books; write four reviews. Started listening to the audiobook on the way home from dropping Miah at his meetup spot, and continued Saturday. 36% complete.

I am myself. I own my life, and live with three other people who own theirs. My intention is to do only those things that bring me joy, and to give myself wholly to those things I do. Writing has been my passion throughout my life, and this will become the home for my writing life...because it brings me great joy!

    1. Thank you, Erin. It really didn’t feel like I was getting much done, but I kept on, doing some every day, and yesterday I vowed not to leave the house.

I’ll be leaving to get Miah in an hour or so, and that will be a few hours, so I’m trying to get my blogging duties at least mostly done before I go, so I can relax and recuperate some once we’re home again.

    1. Boundless…? Well, expansive, anyway! I like having things to do that aren’t just about filling up time, but will move me closer to my goals.

Still, with the last of the needed comings and goings tended to, and my giant almost-grown chick back in the nest and full of memories and friendship, I’m feeling tired and a little distracted…but that, too, is a part of life. =)

    1. I’m going to be delving into more intensive and time-consuming stuff this week – mainly, the revision class. The Week 3 material is posted, but I’ve barely scratched the surface of Week 2, with all the other life stuff happening. But since revision is what I really most want to work on…

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
