“Shovel Buddy…?” #JusJoJan Day Eleven

Welcome to Day Eleven of Just Jot It January, where the prompt is: “Shovel Buddy.”

This phrase makes me think of my son, now 15, who enjoys shoveling snow…and my Accomplice, an Oregon native who decided we should move back to my native upstate New York because “it rains less in New York.” When I pointed out that you don’t need to shovel rain, he poo-pooed me.

Fifteen winters later, and fifteen years older, he’s eager to get back to the Willamette Valley, rain or not…

Is our shovel a buddy? I don’t know…these days, I’m on far better terms with our two elderly but trusty Subarus and their all-wheel-drive! Of course, in order for either of these to be useful in the snow…we actually have to HAVE snow, to begin with! Right now, the ground is bare, and the temperatures almost springlike…and they have more snow in Oregon than we have here!
