Prosperity of a Sacred Place: December 11, 2016

Hey there!

Not a lot to say here; it’s getting late, and it’s been a busy day. I’m writing – alternating 500 words of The Far Shore with one of the poems or essays for my #atozchallenge posts. Mostly, though, I’ve been working on the homeschool reports, due on Thursday.

I also went to the First Church in Albany on Saturday. It’s where Alexander Hamilton’s eulogy was read on July 29, 1804 – exactly 165 years before I was born.

Here’s an excerpt of my new TFS writing, in lieu of more chatting. Of course, I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to!

“Your bath is ready.” Manou’s voice was soft, as though he knew that she was deep into her own thoughts. “Would you like help, Ubunta?”

“I’d like to know how you would help me escape. Then I can bathe, and consider it.” Was she too transparent, too easily read?

Writing:

  • Kifo Island: Complete draft of The Far Shore (KIC#5); 24 Scenes, ~65,000 words. Primary goal. 2,080 new words; Scene 9/24 wrapping up. It went far off plan, but I’m not sorry – it wanders some, but is better than what I plotted..29,391/ ~65,000; steady progress.
  • Blogging From A to Z April Challenge: Continue writing poems/drafting posts, on a rotating-week cycle. Secondary goal. Week Three: L and M poems complete; 6/6. Week Two: B,C, D and E essays drafted: 4/6. Making good progress here.

Plotting:

  • Draft my basic 2017 goals/schedule. Primary goal. Color-coded/organizing brainstormed possibilities list for January; a couple for February: 2/12 months in progress.

  • Brainstorm list of 33 possible blog topics to develop in 2017. Tertiary goal. 33/33. Once I started putting them down; this took off. So it’s done. Some of the ideas are already in play; some are series ideas; some are one-shots; some are words and phrases that tickle my imagination; some are reblogs from other places of mine; a few are maybe utter nonsense that will never see the light of day. But I needed a pool of ideas to draw from and build upon, and now I have it!

Revision:

  • The IDIC Romance: Finish revisionFirst Contact, With Jazz and get it in the hands of waiting betas. Revise Chapters 46 of A Backdrop of Stars and review 1-3. Primary goal; IFC, WJ”: Completed first pass revision on Scene 3/16; reread Scene 4/16 prior to color-coding for first pass.

  • Philodosia”(Hamilton-inspired alternate history): Revise and print a nice copy of Scene One, “A Matter of Honor” for my daughter’s Christmas gift. Side goal. Watched Hamilton’s Albany and Hamilton’s America – hey, #itswritingresearch! Or obsession….or maybe both! =D

Social Media:

  • Make 3 visits to others participants in each hop/challenge I’ve joined. This will be a Thursday/Monday focus. Primary goal. Visited ROW80 and #8sunday: 3/3. Marking this complete; although there’s a new batch to get to now, from the weekend.

  • Interaction: Visit website, blog, ROW80, Albany NNWM, and Yakon Village FB pages; ff.net; Twitter; Instagram; and Pinterest weekly, each site. Secondary goal. I got to all of them for at least a peek – hooray!
  • Continue in situ website design, with a focus on transitioning to it as my prime online home in 2017. Prepare countdown posts for this blog, and post with link. Post one reblog and two snippets each week. This is a Friday/Tuesday focus. Tertiary goal. Simmering some page ideas.WIPpet Wednesday: “If You’re Too Tired”; #8sunday: “The Cogs of My Monday”  and reblog (Fill the Tanks) posted; second scheduled; next weeks awaiting finishing; WIPpet for 12/21 in early drafting. Added a Skywatch Friday/#weekendcoffeeshare post;  and a Stream of Consciousness Friday post;“Don’t Feed the Bears/ Laying Myself Bare.” No countdown stuff yet, but a great week for blogging!

Hometending:

  • Homeschool Administration: Complete/revise/submit first quarter reports (due 12/15). Continue to file to Flickr portfolios. Gather materials for second quarter reports; facilitate further learning as needed/wanted. Primary goal. Jeremiah’s U.S. History, Government, Art, Practical Arts, Music, Latin, Technology, Physical Education, Health and Safety, and Attendance sections drafted; 14/14. Updated Miah’s attendance log. Just have Lise’s attendance, then proofreading for both and the cover letter to do – these will be my priority for Sunday; hoping to have them waiting in the superintendent’s inbox Monday morning.

  • Complete resets/reorganizations: study, family room, and kitchen. Use the 27 Thing Fling for structure/5 each per week. Add in 25 cycles a week for random indoor/outdoor tidying/hometending. Secondary goal. Study: 5/5; Family: 5/5. Kitchen: 5/5. Indoor random; 33/25.Goal exceeded for the week! =D

  • Personal Administration: Clean, organize, and back up all OneDrive Move to Yogical, Stuff to Look At, and The IDIC Romance files. Maintain email below 99 messages. Cull/organize Writing Stuff email folder. Tertiary goal. Wednesday/Saturday focus.

Lifetending:

  • My beloveds: One on one time with each, doing something of value to us both, each week. Continue planning/ attending outings and at-home activities (personal and family) as desired. Primary goal. Conversation and videos with all; canoodling with my Accomplice.

  • NNWM local group: Interact regularly online and in person. Secondary goal. Visited page.

Selftending:

  • Journal six times each week. Meditation six mornings, and three evenings. Primary goal. 6/6 morning; 1/3 evening.

  • Fitness: Get a cumulative total of at least 80 minutes moderate physical activity 5 days weekly, 90 minutes 4 days weekly. Secondary goal. 80 min: 5/5; 90 min: 3/4. I got well over two hours for two days this week; just missed on Friday – post mega-hometending Thursday, and also post-major migraine.

I am myself. I own my life, and live with three other people who own theirs. My intention is to do only those things that bring me joy, and to give myself wholly to those things I do. Writing has been my passion throughout my life, and this will become the home for my writing life...because it brings me great joy!

  1. Sometimes it’s better when things go off plan. I’m still trying to come to terms with that(my In the Moonlight story is so far off my outline, I don’t have a clue where it’s going).
Looks like you made some good progress this week.

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
