A New Month for Prosperity: December 4, 2016

Hey there!

So, November is over, and we’re heading into the holiday season and the end of the year – which means one more chance to get my 2016 goals wrapped up…and, to that end, here, today, I present my December 2016 goals list, and my progress through the first four days of the month.

How about you?

What do you want to get wrapped up this year?

  • Kifo Island: Complete draft of The Far Shore (KIC#5); 24 Scenes, ~65,000 words. Primary goal. 810 new words; Scene 9/24 in progress. 26,471/ ~65,000.

  • Draft my basic 2017 goals/schedule. Primary goal. Began brainstormed possibilities list for January; will mull and cull.

  • Brainstorm list of 33 possible blog topics to develop in 2017. Tertiary goal.

  • The IDIC Romance: Finish revisionFirst Contact, With Jazz and get it in the hands of waiting betas. Revise Chapters 4-6 of A Backdrop of Stars and review 1-3. Primary goal; I want to clear the decks before expected edit requests for my Dark and Bitter story, “Miss Spider and Mister Fly” so that I can get these done expediently.FC, WJ”: Scene 2/16 rough revision complete; color-coded for second pass. Scene 3/16 reread/color-coded for rough revision. Scene 1/16 color -coded for third revision pass – getting closer. ABOS: Rough-revised Chapter 4; located and reread Chapters 1-3; simmering for review pass.

  • Self-Publication: Revise/polish “A Splash of Red”; offer for critique readers. Secondary goal. Pushing back my publication date to early 2017 – I’d rather take more time and be sure I’ve done the best I can.

  • Kifo Island: Revise Sea Changes scenes 5-8 in preparation for submitting to critique group. Tertiary goal. We’ll be resuming in January; I want these scenes ready to go so that I can have a buffer zone while incorporating critiquing back into my week.

Social Media:

  • Make 3 visits to others participatants in each hop/challenge I’ve joined. This will be a Thursday/Monday focus. Primary goal. Visited #SoCS; #8sunday; 1/3. and WIPpet Wednesday: 4/3.

  • Interaction: Visit website, blog, ROW80, Albany NNWM, and Yakon Village FB pages;; Twitter; Instagram; and Pinterest weekly, each site. Secondary goal.
  • Continue in situ website design, with a focus on transitioning to it as my prime online home in 2017. Prepare countdown posts for this blog, and post with link. Post one reblog and two snippets each week. This is a Friday/Tuesday focus. Tertiary goal. Both snippet posts complete: But Also to Live; Alive in the Cold.

  • Homeschool Administration: Complete/revise/submit first quarter reports (due 12/15). Continue to file to Flickr portfolios. Gather materials for second quarter reports; facilitate further learning as needed/wanted. Primary goal. Began Jeremiah’s English Language; Mathematics, and Sciences Section; 3/15.

  • Complete resets/reorganizations: study, family room, and kitchen (getting too cold for the porch). Use the 27 Thing Fling for structure/5 each per week. Add in 25 cycles a week for random indoor/outdoor tidying/hometending. Secondary goal. Study: 4/5; Family: 4/5. Indoor random; 28/25.

  • Personal Administration: Clean, organize, and back up all OneDrive Move to Yogical, Stuff to Look At, and The IDIC Romance files. Maintain email below 99 messages. Cull/organize Writing Stuff email folder. Tertiary goal. Wednesday/Saturday focus. Email success, now that NaNo is over. Looked at IDIC directory; simmering.

  • My beloveds: One on one time with each, doing something of value to us both, each week. Continue planning/ attending outings and at-home activities (personal and family) as desired. Primary goal. Winter tends to be a more home-based time. Games, movies, and associated things keep us connected and enjoying life together. Movies, Victorian Street Walk, Hamilton’s Albany preview, Albany Institute of History and Art, and Panera dinner with my boy; shopping and McDonald’s lunch w/my girl; computer help, canoodling, conversation, and #TBBT with my Accomplice.

  • NNWM local group: Interact regularly online and in person. Secondary goal.

  • Paying it Forward: Offer promotional posts, reviews, and beta-reading for other writers. Tertiary goal.

  • Journal six times each week. Meditation six mornings, and three evenings. 7/6 morning meditation/journal; 2/3 evening. Primary goal. Not quite there yet, but a good week for this goal!

  • Fitness: Get a cumulative total of at least 80 minutes moderate physical activity 5 days weekly, 90 minutes 4 days weekly. Secondary goal. Kicking this up a little; winter can be a sedentary time, and I like the way I feel when I move. 80 min: 5/5; 90 min: 5/4.

  • Tai chi class, swimming, strength, and/or cardio training for a cumulative total of eight hours. Tertiary goal. Since I haven’t gotten close to making ten hours, I’m going to drop it by two to make it more accessible to me.

Leaps of Faith:

  • The IDIC Romance: Submit chapters 4-7 of A Backdrop of Stars to; begin submitting to Ad Astra. Primary goal. I wanted to get to these for the last three months. I still do.

  • Create Patreon page, and incorporate it into my social media…this is an exploratory time. Secondary goal. This got pushed aside last month.

  • Update my Writing Kanban board. Tertiary goal. I haven’t done this since last winter – it’s past time to make this current and useful.

Here’s the thing that made me cry this week…

I am myself. I own my life, and live with three other people who own theirs. My intention is to do only those things that bring me joy, and to give myself wholly to those things I do. Writing has been my passion throughout my life, and this will become the home for my writing life...because it brings me great joy!

  1. The blue beard rocks!!!
And enjoyed this post so much – you are so organized and I forgot how much I like the essence of you that shines through your posts. 😉
And 33 blog topics to come up with….
    How about Hamilton ?
    Kidding kidding kidding
We just watched the pbs special about the writing-making of the show and I told folks I knew a bit of it from your blog – /and so you have Hamilton down – I was kidding….

    1. Oh, there WILL be Hamiltoning (is SO a word!)

Just got a nifty idea for a series of posts about our Hamiltonian adventures…living in upstate New York is really a good way to feed and grow this passion of mine. =)

I completely agree with you about that blue beard and the guy who wears it so well. He adds color to my world! ❤

I'm pretty organized here – but the rest of life tends to be a realm of lovely chaos, for sure!

I will be popping by to visit you in the not-distant future- I've missed you in the hurly-burly of life.

      1. Ha / it is a word now….
And I hope to see Hamilton in 2017
But in meantime will enjoy any snippets you share
Have s great week and cheers to wrapping up December –
I am finishing some huge writing projects this month and it is kind of a special time – have a nice day!

        1. There will be snippets, and more….maybe, eventually, even something on Wattpadd….we’ll see about that.

May you get some good R and R after you finish up the big stuff. =D

  2. Looks like you have a lot on your plate, and that it’s all coming along well. I love how organized you are with tracking. I’m going to start a bullet journal for 2017 and I think I’ll incorporate more tracking into it. Have a terrific week with lots of writing progress!

    1. I’d like to be better organized about answering comments….a goal for 2017.

I’ve been meaning to look into bullet journals, because, as you can see, I do like my bullet lists!

I hope things are working out well for you this round!

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
