Prosperity in a Rush: October 30, 2016

Hey there!

Just a quick intro today – I’m deep in finishing up my plotting for Tsumanis (Kifo Island Chronicles #6), which will be my NaNoWriMo project for this year, while at the same time rewriting/revising a short story, and pushing hard against the deadline, midnight on Halloween. Since tomorrow will include trick-or-treating with my daughter and some new homeschooling friends (her friend is sick, so trick or treating will be a more minimal affair in our rural area), then our local NaNo group’s annual Halloween/NaNo kickoff party, today is my big day for writing.

On Wednesday, I’ll post my November goals, as well as my final October update. Sunday will bring a Round Four Update, and possibly my 2016 update (which might also be the following Wednesday, dependent upon All the Things.)

Now, let’s get to it, shall we?

Note: Only those goals I interacted with during this session are listed. For complete goals lists, follow the links below.

  • Poets on the Page: Write 31 new poems in October, using OctPoWriMo prompts. Secondary goal. 29/31 complete. Back on track, and intending to stay that way.

  • Kifo Island Chonicles: Complete planning (Beginning with Setting worksheets, and ending with Story World Mandalas) and plot Tsunamis. Primary goal. Scene Cards completed; Scene by Scene Outline created; Scene Profile Page 4/24 in progress.

  • Plot #atozchallenge posts while writing October poems. Secondary goal. Week Two (B -G): D and E poems written.

  • For Submission: Revise “Peach Liqueur Love” for Dark and Bitter; first “Philodosia” story for The Machinery; and “Beneath the Ice” for World Unknown Review. Primary goal. Created new Scene List; G/M/C/D and summary for eight new scenes. Restructured existing story for Old Scenes in preparation for rewrite; Scene 1/8 in progress.

Social Media:

  • Make regular visits to others participating in hops and challenges I’ve joined. This will be a Thursday/Monday focus. Primary goal. Visited 2 ROWers on Wednesday; not a good week for visits, since I’ve got these deadlines.

  • Interaction: Visit website, blog, ROW80, Albany NNWM, and Yakon Village FB pages;; Twitter; Instagram; and Pinterest at least twice weekly, each site. Once each for green items. Answered review at Again, not the best week for being social.

  • Complete resets/reorganizations: study, family room, and porch. Use the 27 Thing Fling for structure/4 each per week. Add in 20 cycles a week for random indoor/outdoor tidying/hometending. Primary goal. Study: 4/4; porch: 3 /4; family 2/4. Random inside/outside: 23/20. Overall, not bad, considering a busy and much wetter week than we’ve had recently.

  • Personal Administration: Clean, organize, and back up all OneDrive Homeschool, Blogging, and Beta Reading files. Maintain email below 99 messages. Tertiary goal. Email at about 5 messages.

  • My beloveds: One on one time with each, doing something of value to us both, each week. Continue planning/ attending outings (personal and family) as desired. Primary goal. Conversation; flirting; Jeremiah and I went to Fort Ticonderoga; last Hamiltoning trip for a few weeks; daughter to Halloween party, and Monday trick-or-treat planned with friends, prior to my NaNo Halloween/kickoff party.

  • NNWM local group: Interact regularly online and in person; participate actively in critique group. Secondary goal. Visited FB page.

  • Paying it Forward: Offer beta reading, reviews, and promotional posts for other writers. Tertiary goal. In addition to next week’s blog tour post, I also tweeted out a book link for a struggling writer friend.

  • Journal six times each week. Gradually increase meditation to ten minutes six mornings, and four minutes three evenings. Primary goal. Journaling: 6/6; Meditation morning: 6/6 (variable; 6-10 minutes); evening: 2/3 (4 minutes). Getting better at remembering the evening session.

  • Fitness: Get a cumulative total of at least 75 minutes moderate physical activity 5 days weekly, 90 minutes thrice weekly. Secondary goal. 75 min: 5/5; 90 min: 4/3.

  • Tai chi class, swimming, strength, and/or cardio training for a cumulative total of twelve hours. Tertiary goal. 2.5 hours; monthly total: 7 hours; 10 minutes. I won’t make the goal, but I did make progress.

Leaps of Faith:

  • Submit stories to Dark and Bitter; The Machinery; and World Unknown Review. Primary goal. WUR: In progress.

  1. good luck with getting your submission in under the wire!! I managed to submit 2 stories this year, but there’s no way I’ll make it on the third I’d wanted to. Not even finished with the first draft yet. Oh well, I’ll either finish it up and hold onto it to submit next year or publish it on my own. I’m not sure yet.

We live outside of town, but we go in for trick-or-treating, since there isn’t much to go to out here. Kids are excited, this year we have a tiger and Chase(from the cartoon PAW Patrol).

    1. I rushed that one a little more than I wanted, given that I had a major insight only a few days before the end of the month.

It didn’t get accepted this time, but, with a bit of a waiting time, I’m thinking it could be polished into something really good, so that will be a project for 2017.

I kind of fell out of the comment habit, but I’m trying to get back into it.

I hope your trick-or-treating went well. I had Chara from Undertale, and a boy too old for dressing up. We went to our local homeschool community center’s Halloween party (the girl and I, that is), but she opted out of trick-or-treating when the friend she was invited to go with got sick.

      1. Yeah, neither of mine were accepted this year either. Disappointed, but she had some good comments about them and I’m thinking about fleshing out Midas’ Daughter and maybe releasing it. Not sure what I’ll do with the other one. Have thought about throwing a few together in a collection and putting them up on amazon but we’ll see.

  2. I only officially entered NaNoWriMo one time, it must have been 2011. And I managed to finish my memoir which did become my first published book. But it was a tough one. November is such a busy month for me. And besides hosting the whole family Thanksgiving dinner the Sunday before Thanksgiving, I am also hosting intimate family Thanksgiving morning brunch. We have two craft shows for our nonprofit in November and then there’s the whole Christmas shopping thing, which I hate to leave til the last minute. Also, this year, I will be working on press stuff for my novel coming out in the spring. So, yea, NaNo this year, definitely not. But best wishes to all the participants!

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
