Sunday (insert whatever day you happen to be reading this)?
This round, I’m focusing on prosperity….but what does prosperity mean, exactly? If it’s having financial independence – well, my family and I are rather far from that, at the moment. I expect that’s going to change within the next few months, but it may be a few more than that before we’re back in a more balanced state.
The thing is, I’m not especially motivated by money, and I never have been. If our children were grown instead of growing, there’d be very little worry for me in this financial ebb. With growing children, it becomes more important to have the funds to feed, clothe, and offer them some opportunities.
Fortunately, we tend toward a simple lifestyle. We own our older, well-worn home and cars outright. We carry very little debt; we’re needing to be careful with money, these days, but we aren’t in dire straits. We’re OK.
There’s prosperity in being able to move through difficult times without piling stress on top of uncertainty. It’s the prosperity of simplicity.
It’s been a prosperous week for me, writing-wise. My focus was on the two short stories I wanted to submit – one a short story, and the other flash fiction. The short story was in a considerable state of disarray; as I pieced it together and teased out themes, symbolism, coherence, and sensory detail, I realized that there’s a hidden prosperity in having the desire, commitment, and ability to bring the ideas that rattle around in my mind out onto the screen, shape them, tend them – and release them into the world.

- The IDIC Romance: Finish any #STaD stories still pending . Primary goal. Story 5/5 simmering; reread all existing segments.
For Submission: Revise “Peach Liqueur Love” for Dark and Bitter; first “Philodosia” story for The Machinery; and “Beneath the Ice” for World Unknown Review. Primary goal. DaB and Machinery submitted Friday/early Saturday. Reread final existing draft for “WUR”; simmering prior to reorganizing/rewriting.
The IDIC Romance: Revise “First Contact, With Jazz” and get it in the hands of waiting betas. Revise Chapters 4-7 of A Backdrop of Stars; review 1-3; Love and Loss. Tertiary goal. I don’t think I’ll get to LAL this month.
Make regular visits to others participating in hops and challenges I’ve joined. This will be a Thursday/Monday focus. Primary goal. Not as many as I’d hoped.
- Interaction: Visit website, blog, ROW80, Albany NNWM, and Yakon Village FB pages; ff.net; Twitter; Instagram; and Pinterest at least twice weekly, each site. Once each for highlighted items; twice for strikethroughs.
Continue in situ website design, with a focus on bringing in the various facets of my life in a more cohesive manner. This will be a Friday/Tuesday focus. Tertiary goal. Set up another ReBlog post; WIPpet Wednesday post.
Complete resets/reorganizations: study, family room, and porch. Use the 27 Thing Fling for structure/4 each per week. Add in 20 cycles a week for random indoor/outdoor tidying/hometending. Primary goal. Study: 4/4; Family room and porch: 1/ 4 each. Random inside: 16/20.
- Personal Administration: Clean, organize, and back up all OneDrive Homeschool, Blogging, and Beta Reading files. Maintain email below 99 messages. Tertiary goal.
My beloveds: One on one time with each, doing something of value to us both, each week. Continue planning/ attending outings (personal and family) as desired. Primary goal. Canoodling; chatting; couples’ workout; drive/shopping/lunch with my boy. Plans for next week or two– Hamilton’s America preview;shopping with girl; NY State Museum; Schuyler Mansion; Fort Ticonderoga. Halloween plans under consideration.
NNWM local group: Interact regularly, in person and online; participate actively in critique group. Secondary goal.
Journal six times each week. Gradually increase meditation to ten minutes six mornings, and four minutes three evenings. Primary goal. 7/6 journaling; 7/6 morning meditation at 8 minutes twice, and 10 minutes four times (wahoo!). Evening meditation before sleep; 1/3; 2 minutes.
Fitness: Get a cumulative total of at least 75 minutes moderate physical activity 5 days weekly, 90 minutes thrice weekly. Secondary goal. 75 min: 6/5; 90 min: 4/3.
Tai chi class, swimming, strength, and/or cardio training for a cumulative total of twelve hours. Tertiary goal. 1 hour; monthly total: 4 hours; 10 minutes.
Finish reading/reveling in Hamilton: The Revolution (Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeffrey McCarter). Return to its rightful owner….*sniff*. Side goal. Read “Who Tells Your Story?” and end matter; page 287/287. Should be returning this at Sunday’s write-in.
