Prosperity in Pain: October 12, 2016

It’s Infant Loss Awareness Week. If you’ve lost a baby during pregnancy or after birth, I grieve with you. There’s a certain small someone much in my mind today – someone who might be 13 now, but instead died in a coma at the age of 12 days. Elijah James Burton, our Tiny Tiger…I love you, and I’m forever your Mommy.

A Backdrop of Stars Finale:

Diclaimer: I don’t own or profit from them!

“Shh, shh. I know. I know. I’ll get Phlox to explain it- no, not all, just enough to get the point across… Damnit, Jon – what the hell are you doing here, anyway? Haven’t you done enough damage?”

“Brought -” Jon’s voice scratched and clawed its way out, and emerged diminished. “I brought you something to eat.” He stayed where he was; he wasn’t going to take any more chances with a clearly irrational Vulcan. If she hadn’t been so weak, she might have killed him before Trip even woke up. It was sobering, and more than a little scary.

“Yeah, I remember that’s your favorite technique for spying on us. Get this through your head, Captain. We’re married. It’s been cleared with Admiral Gardner. Nothing you can do about it – and if you try anything so asinine again, I might not be fast enough to keep my wife from doing exactly what she wants to do to you. Since you had Surak in your head, and her hands around your throat, you’ve probably got some idea of what that is.”

“I won’t kill him. But he must leave, and not return.”

Note: Only goals engaged with this session are displayed.

Follow the links for complete goals lists.

  • The IDIC Romance: Finish any #STaD stories still pending . Primary goal. Vignette 4/5 (A Backdrop of Stars) complete:4,462 words.
  • Poets on the Page: Write 31 new poems in October, using OctPoWriMo prompts. Secondary goal. 7/31 complete. I’ve fallen behind as I focus on revisions, but plan to use the next three poems as character development for Tsunamis, so should catch up fairly quickly once the stories are submitted.

  • Kifo Island Chonicles: Complete planning (Beginning with Setting worksheets, and ending with Story World Mandalas) and plot Tsunamis. Primary goal. Setting/Time worksheets for 2/3 characters (Xavier/Yvette) complete. Began Setting sheet 3/3 (Zeke).

  • Plot #atozchallenge posts while writing October poems. Secondary goal. Simmering; I have a theme – no, make that a nascent plan! Once the first two submissions are done, I’ll get to work on that.

  • For Submission: Revise “Peach Liqueur Love” for Dark and Bitter; first “Philodosia” story for The Machinery; and “Beneath the Ice” for World Unknown Review. Primary goal. DaB rewrite in progress: 1,762 words (almost to the end of Scene 1/ 2). The story has broken open, and this is by far the best version I’ve written thus far. A plan is simmering for “Philodosia”; will begin working on that later today.

Social Media:

  • Make regular visits to others participating in hops and challenges I’ve joined. This will be a Thursday/Monday focus. Primary goal. Began visits; more pending for today.

  • Interaction: Visit website, blog, ROW80, Albany NNWM, and Yakon Village FB pages;; Twitter; Instagram; and Pinterest at least twice weekly, each site. Secondary goal. Once each for highlighted items.
  • Continue in situ website design, with a focus on bringing in the various facets of my life in a more cohesive manner. This will be a Friday/Tuesday focus. Tertiary goal. Set up another ReBlog post.

  • Complete resets/reorganizations: study, family room, and porch. Use the 27 Thing Fling for structure/4 each per week. Add in 20 cycles a week for random indoor/outdoor tidying/hometending. Primary goal. Study: 2/4. Random inside: 8/20.

  • Personal Administration: Clean, organize, and back up all OneDrive Homeschool, Blogging, and Beta Reading files. Maintain email below 99 messages. Tertiary goal. 96 messages in inbox.

  • My beloveds: One on one time with each, doing something of value to us both, each week. Continue planning/ attending outings (personal and family) as desired. Primary goal. Couples’ workout; chatting. Plans for next week or two: Hamilton’s America preview, NY State Museum; Catskills road trip with the kids; Schuyler Mansion; Fort Ticonderoga; shopping. Halloween plans under consideration; workouts and write-ins.

  • NNWM local group: Interact regularly, in person and online; participate actively in critique group. Secondary goal. Attended write-in; visited group page.

  • Journal six times each week. Gradually increase meditation to ten minutes six mornings, and four minutes three evenings. Primary goal. 3/6 journaling/ 3/6 morning meditation at 8 minutes twice, and 10 minutes once (wahoo!). Finally remembered evening meditation before sleep; 1/3 for 2 minutes – it’s a start to build on.

  • Fitness: Get a cumulative total of at least 75 minutes moderate physical activity 5 days weekly, 90 minutes thrice weekly. Secondary goal. 75: 3/5; 90: 2/3.

  • Tai chi class, swimming, strength, and/or cardio training for a cumulative total of twelve hours. Tertiary goal. 1 hour; monthly total: 3 hours; 20 minutes.

  • Finish reading/reveling in Hamilton: The Revolution (Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeffrey McCarter). Return to its rightful owner….*sniff*. Side goal. I’ve read through It’s Quiet Uptown; page 256/287. Seems like a fitting stopping point for Infant Loss Week.

Leaps of Faith:

  • Submit stories to Dark and Bitter; The Machinery; and World Unknown Review. Primary goal. Revisions underway for DaB; plan simmering for Machinery.

  • Create Patreon page, and incorporate it into my social media…this is an exploratory time. Side goal. Nothing specifically on my page; took on my first sponsee; my young Canadian friend Idzie Desmarais, a lovely writer and grown unschooler who has inspired my family’s unschooling journey. Find her at Patreon, or at her website: I’m Unschooled. Yes, I Can Write.

  1. Looks like there’s a lot of green and even some blue in there. Looks like a good start to the week.

And I really want to know what led up to that snippet.

  2. Losing a loved one can hit one like a boulder, especially one’s child. Hardships and sorrows are part of life, especially personal victories of daily breath.
It seems that you’re surfing along in ROW80. Going with the flow, and passing on some good vibes 😉

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
