Foundation-Building Presence: ROW80 2016 End of Round One Update

March isn’t quite over yet, but Round One of ROW80 2016 is. So it’s time to take stock of my goals and progress for the round. It’s a foundation building month, full of preparations for novel drafting and fan fiction indulgences…

  • My 2016 Goals

  • March 2016 Goals (Still in progress – updating soon.)

  • Draft “Peach Liqueur Love” prequel story for Chicago Tribune Writing Contest.

  • The IDIC Romance; Blogging from A-Z April 2016: Revise existing stories and create expansion versions of each. Vignette 5/26 in revision (E). 2/26 expansion stories previously drafted (M,P).

  • Plan and Plot “Peach Liqueur Love” prequel story for Chicago Tribune Writing Contest.

  • The IDIC Romance: Complete plot/pinch points for 25 stories. 16/25 complete (P).

  • Watch or read transcripts where I’m not sure of events, sequences, or relevant details, prior to scheduling posts for IDIC Romance A-Z stories. Watched Fusion” and “Zero Hour”.

  • Decide on, plan, and plot April CampNaNo novel. A Rising Tide (KIC #4) is taking shape, nearly ready to be born! =D

  • Revise “Peach Liqueur Love” prequel story for Chicago Tribune Writing Contest.

  • The IDIC Romance: “Slow Jazz Awakening”: Reread hard copy and notate; adapt revision plan as needed; write revised draft; 16 short scenes. Complete revision plan for 16 scenes; offer to betas; polish; and submit to a fan fiction site. Pre-beta revised draft (2.5); 16/16 scenes completed and sent to my local critique group; revisions pending. This is taking longer than I hoped, but the results are going to be so worth it!

  • Complete “Peach Liqueur Love” Deep Revision Exercises;  submit to critique group. Exercise 2/5 in progress, still – no progress here.

  • The IDIC Romance: “Mission Accomplished” and “Scavenger Hunt”: Polish and submit to crit group. Done, and more…I’ve revised “Mission” and sent through a second time, and also to two beta readers. “Scavenger” second revision progressing. Ahead of schedule on these two.

  • Sea Changes (Kifo Island Chronicles #1): Continue offering first 3 scenes as WIPpet snippets. Do hard copy readthroughs, silently and aloud. Scene 2/3 in progress.

Blogging/Social Media:

  • Revise, post, and initiate new blogging schedule; keep all posts current. Uh, no. Plotting and revisions took over.

  • Keep up with all current blog comments and visits, at least twice weekly. Respond to all older comments, with apologies for the delay. Still trying to find a rhythm; up and down.

  • ROW80: Keep visits and updates current; draft, revise, and submit Round One Sponsor Post before January 10.

  • Update my blog layout and pages. Sporadic progress made.

  • Maintain email at under 99 messages; sort Archives and Transactions in Progress folders. More or less as life unrolls.

  • Homeschool Administration: Complete all pending paperwork. Draft IHIPs and attend to district’s Peer Review issue;create 2015-2016 Flickr portfolios for both kids, and add all current year items to them. Sciences section complete; Social Studies: Patriotism and Citizenship; U.S. History; and U.S. Government; and Economics. Nothing new here.

  • Continue decluttering/beautification projects; in home and/or yard, five days weekly. Continue making improvements to our home and our quality of life. House looking a lot better!

  • Go through all online subscriptions; cancel those we no longer need; at least one each week until done. Gathered relevant emails, and that’s as far as I’ve gotten.

  • Continue planning/ attending outings (personal and family) as desired. Stuff happened.

  • NNWM local group: Attend write-ins regularly, and check in on the Facebook group as inspired. Read and critique both projects I’ve been hanging onto; submit and critique weekly for our small crit group, which is brand-new this year! First project readthrough complete, comments pending.
  • Complete Stained Snow beta read.

  • My beloveds: One on one time with each, doing something of value to us both, each week.

  • Complete 6 book reviews carried over from last year, on Amazon and/or Goodreads.

  • Write in Abundance, Intentions, and #onegoodcup journals seven times each week. Meditate ten times weekly, including one eating meditation. Explore one new meditative practice each month. Will revisit the eating meditation.

  • T’ai chi practice: One class and one at-home practice each week. Back to class twice. Began researching videos.

  • Get a cumulative total of at least 40 minutes moderate physical activity 5 days weekly, Focus on sprints of activity daily (hometending, dancing, tai chi, walking, whatever), and more strenuous activities I enjoy, like swimming and hiking, building to weekly by round’s end. Write twice-monthly health-centered blog posts. Not sure on the minute count, but likely close.

Leaps of Faith:

  • One new story and submission a month. Still at one submission and many new stories. As the revisions wrap up, the submission count will improve.

  • Submit “Peach Liqueur Love” prequel story for Chicago Tribune Writing Contest. The deadline is January 31 -aim for January 30.
  • Fan fiction stuff: Polish “Mission: Accomplished”, “Scavenger Hunt”, and “Slow Jazz Awakening; offer at Triaxian Silk. All needed more work than I thought; still in revisions, but getting closer.

  • Poetry Chapbooks: Organize all poems into rough categories for future development.

The Writing Challenge That Knows You Have a Life!

I am myself. I own my life, and live with three other people who own theirs. My intention is to do only those things that bring me joy, and to give myself wholly to those things I do. Writing has been my passion throughout my life, and this will become the home for my writing life...because it brings me great joy!
