What Lies Ahead? January 2016

Are you ever so occupied with your present that you don’t get around to taking account of it?

That about sums up my January, so far. Actually, since the tail end of December. Assorted busyness has claimed me, for this, that, and the other. It would be fruitless to try to account for it all – but there’s been a doctor’s visit, shopping, visiting with friends, going to my write in, assessing old goals, setting new ones, jotting, planning, having revelations and epiphanies, connecting, simmering, dreaming, laughing, canoodling…

And there was this:

My Accomplice, who seldom reads what I write, was home alone on Monday, while the kids and I were shopping. Later that evening, while we were watching a movie together, he said he had a writing compliment for me. It was, “I really want to know what happens at dinner.”

I was over the moon, in a manner of speaking. What a present! =D Note: If you’re looking for context, you can find my story, “Monday Morning Coffee” in the World Unknown Review, Volume II, just 99 cents for the ebook at Amazon (fellow ROWer Fallon Brown also has an excellent novella, Into the Sun, in this anthology).

As usual, I have a variety of goals – from the very small and simple, to the long-term and very scary. I’ve simplified things this year. I have more clarity about where I’m going, and the steps that lie between my present and their attainment. I’ve set goals I believe I can either finish or move forward significantly, this month – and those fit into my Round One goals, which, in turn, fit into my 2016 goals – which are a segment of my longer-term goals. Click the links below to read the extended goals – a road map to the future.
