A Lot of Things (Family, Continued): The IDIC Romance Advent Calendar

Advent header new

Well, here we are, entering the last week of 2016 already! I hope 2015 has been filled with love, laughter, sharing, and so much joy that it flowed out from you and embraced others.

To help with that, I created a special Advent calendar. It’s non-denominational and didn’t stop on December 25. Instead it goes on giving for the rest of the month. It also espouses the concept of IDIC – Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations.

Each day, you can open a new flash fan fiction story. These are freewritings – rough and imperfect; I only correct for spelling and grammar. Read one, read some, read them all – suit yourself!

Here’s a bonus for your New Year’s Week – four more paragraphs of Family, courtesy of Fallon Brown and Erin Zarro, our resident supernovae of comments and encouragement – these ladies love TnT with a fervor I find – well, highly logical and most agreeable.

Advent Family

OK, briefing time:

  • Spoiler zone ahead! Don’t read these posts if you don’t want series spoilers, or even spoilers for other parts of The IDIC Romance, because things will be revealed, and I don’t like spoiling…I’d much rather delight.

  • The base art for the calendar elements of this post was created by Annalise S. Burton, and is used with permission and compensation.

  • I don’t own Trip, T’Pol, or the franchise that conceived them. These stories are offered as a gift, without expectation for any compensation. Of course, comments, rhapsodizing ramblings, and honest feedback of all kinds are always welcome!

  • This snippet is rated PG-13 for suggestiveness.

For context, Trip and T’Pol had a meeting with Ambassador Soval in the wake of their infant daughter’s death. He counseled them on the nature of Vulcan pairbonding, and assured Trip that he could in fact meet T’Pol’s needs, even now. T’Pol wants to be legally married on Earth, as soon as possible…but first, there’s some other urgent business to attend to…

A Lot of Things

But knowing they were going to make things formal seemed to calm her. Not enough not to need to mate with him; Trip had been with her long enough to know that, whether it was natural for all Vulcans or not, his Vulcan needed that physical joining, when she was hurting. It had taken him long enough to get the message, though, that he’d unintentionally abandoned her a few times; he was determined that he was never going to leave her wanting again.

How he was going to have the endurance was another matter – but he could think about that later. Right now, he was holding her, and she needed him, and wanted him, and so Trip gave himself to her, and she claimed him with the beginnings of gentleness – a little less mating, and a little more making love.

After, she fell almost immediately asleep. Trip didn’t have to guess that she’d barely had six hours over the past week – and she’d been with Elizabeth every possible minute, even nursing her those last few hours, which was something of a miracle he still didn’t really understand…

There were a lot of things he didn’t understand. She’d spent the last four years immersing herself in human culture; she was way ahead of him. He needed to catch up, because T’Pol was never going to be human. She was Vulcan, and, since he was going to marry her, and was already bonded with her, he’d damned well better learn exactly what she needed from her husband – the things only a Vulcan man could tell him.

How will Trip learn what he needs to know?

Will T’Pol be able to sleep, now?

Will there be a wedding?

What’s next?

Well, you’ll have to wait for those answers…I’ll have another round of TnT stories for Blogging From A-Z in April, 2016. Yes, this story will be continued then, so you have something to look forward to when the seasons change again!
