Gratefully Welcoming December: December 2, 2015

Well, we’ve made it to another December. NaNoWriMo is done, Round Four 2015 is drawing to a close, along with the year. It’s time to assess where I am, where I’d like to travel to in the time remaining, and make appropriate course corrections that will move me further in that direction. So, over the next few days, I’ll be updating my Round 4 and annual goals.

I’ll also be looking forward to 2016 – I’ve got plans, and visions, and aspirations. The review process is likely to sharpen and focus these, and from that I will build my next set of annual goals – which will look more like a business plan than any I’ve had to this date…I’m anticipating, and a little nervous.

Experience has shown me that this tends to be a grand combination for growth.

Today, though my focus is on my final November goals update, and setting afresh shiny batch for December.

  • What do you consider your biggest success of 2015?

  • What’s one thing you wish you’d done, but didn’t?

  • How can you get more of the first, and some of the second?

I’ll be pondering those questions myself, and offering some answers in the next week or two…I’d love to hear yours, as well!

I am myself. I own my life, and live with three other people who own theirs. My intention is to do only those things that bring me joy, and to give myself wholly to those things I do. Writing has been my passion throughout my life, and this will become the home for my writing life...because it brings me great joy!

  1. Love your three questions to consider at year’s end! And I like that idea of having Start Trek watching in among your goals — I need to catch up on Outlander, myself!

    1. I’ve found that including a specific number of episodes of a show I want to watch anyway both relieves my guilt when I do watch it, and also gives me a stopping place. When I get to that set point, I stop watching until I get to the next week, month, round, or whatever. I can tailor that based on whatever else happens to be going on.

As it happens, I don’t have a December Trek goal. I was going to watch some episodes of Enterprise, but I realized that that would be a better idea after I’ve written the rough drafts of the stories I’m dealing with.

Those questions are steering me toward something…I’m not quite sure what it is, but I can feel it.

I wish you lots of viewing time – and writing time, too!

  2. Lovely to read your reflections on preparing for the end of the year and beginning to think about next year. Your energy and enthusiasm are reflected everywhere — even in the Tai Chi. May it be a good year for you and yours!

    1. You always say the sweetest things. I’ve found that life is just better when I’m happy and fulfilled. For me, my family – maybe for others; too.

I feel big new things on our horizon. I hope your new year will be joyous! =)

  3. I fought the evil forces of bureaucracy and obfuscation in a prolonged and frustrating battle to bring the woman I fell in love with online and her daughter over from America.
We were married in January this year and have now attained heights of happiness (and debt) I never thought possible.

That’s enough for me this year, everything else pales into insignificance.

    1. I would imagine it would! I’m a rather big fan of love; knew my Accomplice less than six months when I married him. We’re from opposite sides of North America, but met more or less in the middle, while we were both working at the Grand Canyon. Neither of us had met the other’s family until a week before the wedding, at the earliest.

That was over 18 years ago. He’s still just what he promised to be back then, “My biggest fan and my toughest adversary.”

May this year involve even more joy. This world can always use more of that!

        1. I’ll pop over and read that as soon as I’ve finished setting up my blog posts…taking advantage of my daughter being asleep, since it’s ‘her’ internet day = homeschooling + finicky internet= we all make certain compromises, and I can’t count on using it during school hours, because there aren’t any for us…so I’m hustling against the knowledge she’ll be awake in the next couple of hours, maybe less.

        1. I read the first installment and saved it, but then life got a bit busy…I hope to come by and comment, and read more, sometime in the next few weeks – the weekends are my busiest time blog-wise, and then my Accomplice has Monday and Tuesday off, so those are more family-oriented.

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
