“Not in the Slightest”: The IDIC Romance for #WeWriWa #8Sunday

Welcome to

Weekend Writing Warriors’ Eight Sentence Sunday!

It’s the weekly hop for everyone who loves to write! We’ve got a variety of genres amd talented writers just waiting for you to come sample their wordy wares. Come read one, or all, or pick a few like wildflowers or snowflakes, depending on your location and tendencies….

And, if you’re inclined to share your own 8-10 sentence snippet, follow the link and sign up. It’s a great community to be a part of! =D

This week, I offer you the ten-sentence installment #10 in my serialized Star Trek: Enterprise flash fan fiction story, “Mission Accomplished”. We begin right where last week’s snippet, “In the Court of T’Pol” ended.

Context: Trip and T’Pol have been assigned a team-building exercise by the Captain, who remains unaware that they’ve already become a team in a very different – and very physical – way. When Trip told T’Pol her Mess Hall advances were dangerous, she invited him back to her quarters, but she’s close to pitching over the edge of her primal Vulcan desires, and now he needs to try to distract her until they can get there…

This snippet is rated R for suggestiveness; not suitable for all audiences. I’ve also played a little fast and loose with the punctuation.

“Not in the Slightest”

She answered with action, aiming herself down the corridor at full impulse. That said plain out that she wanted him, needed him. Made him damned proud as he tried to keep up with her luscious, soon-to-be-bare aft sections – but neither the view nor his pride did anything to help him get ‘down in front’. Nope, not in the slightest.

T’Pol got to the lift, and jabbed the button with paired fingers – a definite sign to anyone who knew how to read Vulcan body language. If the doors hadn’t opened right up for them, she might have decided to force them. As it was, she grabbed hold of his arm, Vulcan-tight, and damned near yanked him in after her.

Trip yelped in an utterly unmasculine way, damned glad she wasn’t impressed by machismo. He didn’t try to get his arm back – a human guy who resisted could get something broken very easily, when she was like this.

Before the doors even closed all the way, Trip was wearing his very own, very amorous Vulcan woman, and praying to all the gods and goddesses on both their worlds that no one else wanted the turbolift before he could get them out of it – if he could get them out of it before she’d had her way with him.

Will Trip be able to contain the lustful Vulcan in his life?

Will T’Pol get her way before they make it to her quarters?

Will they get caught?

Come on back next week to find out!

Need to read back? Here’s all of “Mission Accomplished” that’s been posted, thus far:

And, now, the obligatory disclaimer:

Trip, T’Pol, and Trek: None of these are mine. Can I help it if these two unlikely lovers keep insisting I tell their stories? =D

The video below may, just possibly, have provided inspiration for this story. Has a song ever sparked a story idea for you? If so, which song? Was the story directly or obliquely connected? I’d love to hear about it!

  1. ROFLMAO….I admit, I am a huge fan of fanfiction, but never really delved into Star Trek as a fandom. I can’t help but find it amusing because my own fandoms are so very similar.

My only comment. Damn he says “damned” a lot! But then, some people are just like that. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Of all the crew of Enterprise, Trip’s the most likely to curse – which is funny, because he really is a gentleman. My theory is that a certain usually very logical lady tends to make him a little more prone to it than usual, while she’s driving him nuts.

I got into Star Trek fandom when I was 13. I’ve actually even been an Orion slave girl at conventions . =)

      What’s your fandom?

        1. Mr. 14 year old is a Whovian (and a Brony). My 11 yo is more into Welcome to Night Vale and Five Nights at Freddy’s. Harry Potter enjoyed a brief but intense popularity here, too.

It’s always nice to learn about other people’s passions! Thanks for sharing yours!

    1. Impatient doesn’t even come close! Vulcan desire isn’t quite like human desire…and, yes, explaining this one might be more than either one of them can handle, at the moment…

I really enjoyed writing this one, and I’ve been editing each snippet, which is fun, too!

      Glad you’re enjoying it! =)

    1. I would. =)

Vulcans aren’t dispassionate about sex. For them, it’s life-or-death insanity every seven years.

But T’Pol’s situation is – well, complicated. There’s all this living and working with humans, for one thing. Then there’s the Pa’Naar syndrome that resulted from a forced mind meld she severed violently. It caused a progressive and potentially fatal neural condition. Then there were several other invasions of her mind (because sci-fi), and a virus that triggered her mating cycle prematurely. She was medicated rather than consummated, so I suspect there’d be lingering effects from that.

Then she was exposed to trellium D, altered by a mutagenic virus, had her mind invaded again, with more damage, and then had a major exposure to trellium, which has been discovered to be extremely toxic to Vulcans, gradually and fatally damaging the synaptic pathways that allow them to control emotions.

She recovered, but wanted more of the emotions she experienced as she detoxed. She decided, not very logically, to ingest small amounts of trellium. At the point of this story, she’s been injecting herself with the neurotoxin for several weeks, and she’s feeling everything more powerfully…and it’s becoming increasingly overwhelming…

Which is a very long explanation for a very brief snippet. =)

I’ll be writing paragraphs tonight, and adding them to the story tomorrow.

    2. Oops, I got confused by two TnT posts in two days! Anyway, all that backstory still holds, except that T’Pol’s not using trellium at the moment, and the Pa’Naar syndrome, caused by an improperly conducted meld, has been cured using ancient Vulcan techniques recently brought to light. Also, T’Pol has been studying the writings of the Kir’Shara, the original works of Surak, the founder of Vulcan philosophy. She was more or less coerced into the marriage arranged for her when she was a child, and, after her mother died, the marriage was terminated by her husband, who knew it wasn’t what she wanted. She and Trip have both been in dire straits, and trouble between them led Trip to transfer to another ship. It’s during this time that T’Pol learns that she is capable of performing the mind meld, no longer taboo, and that she has unintentionally created a psychic mating bond with Trip.

He’s come back, she’s come clean, and they’re finally completely together, the way her nature demands. But now the Captain’s giving them these ‘team-building exercises’, and that’s really getting in the way of an essential part of bond-building – frequent physical and telerotic contact…

OK, the last of this is supposition on my part. But even in the series, T’Pol is rather – um, forceful about her desires…

  2. I love this line: “Trip yelped in an utterly unmasculine way, damned glad she wasn’t impressed by machismo.” Nice!

You know…your first sentence opens with telling, then describes the action. But it really works! I think the impact would be lessened if you removed the telling. And I’m always impressed with things like that. I hate writing rules, lol.

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
