The Warmth of Gratitude: October 18, 2015

So, how’s the weather where you are?

Here, last night, we had our first freeze of the new season. Frost is thick on the ground, and it’s cozy and pleasant here in the house, where, at 7:30 am on a new moon morning, when I haven’t yet been to bed, I am listening to “Welcome to Night Vale” with my girl.

I brought the best of the remaining wildflowers from the yard yesterday, and there are two pretty vases to grace the living and family rooms, which brings in the scents of the season past, and extends it just a bit. I hope to get some nice pictures, after I sleep.

It’s nice, after the intensity of emotions brought up by recent events, to think about the weather, our clean and snug little home, and simple pleasures like listening to a podcast, and just being with my beloveds.

Sigh. Exhale.

This is exactly where I want to be, and whom I want to be with.

I’ve also been writing – still getting back into my interrupted pace, and still keeping some focus for other matters – but writing. Here’s where things stand for my October goals…

Color-coding key:

  • Goal attained = blue with overstrike.

  • Goal in progress = green.

  • Goal-in-waiting = red.

Writing:

  • Write one poem daily for the OctPoWriMo Challenge. Each poem will fit the theme “Gratitude”. 12/31. I’ve written three and a half poems this session. One new poem posted, another in progress. Not getting ahead, but rebuilding a habit. This week: Catch up, and post all poems to date.

Plotting:

  • The IDIC Romance: Complete 2/3 paragraphs for the remaining letters (Q-Z); do an 11:11 Stream of Consciousness sprint for each; these will be the basis for new stories and A-Z posts. Choose one paragraph for each to develop into the post; make episode list for rewatching. Hey, #itswritingresearch! 1/31 stories chosen. Returned to drafting this session: 19/26 letters completed; through S. This week: Complete drafting. Choose stories to develop further as A-Z posts.

Revisions:

  • The IDIC Romance: “Slow Jazz Awakening”: Using compiled notes, complete rough revision plan for 16 scenes. Rewrite and offer as a beta read. Scene 3 in progress from Round Three.

  • Complete “Peach Liqueur Love” Deep Revision Exercises and submit. Exercise 2 in progress from Round Three.

Blogging/Social Media:

  • Publish all regular features posts; scheduling ahead if possible: Progress made on most posts, one feature posted early Sunday. Again, getting back into the swing. This week: Do all regular features; schedule all October WIPpets and #8sunday posts; schedule next two C and C posts; draft one additional Mindful Monday post.

  • Catch up all blog comments and visits. Attended to most recent, with return visits. Answered and made a few visits on Thursday. This week: Keep on keeping on. Do better at visiting; that seems to be tripping me up, ATM.

  • ROW80: Keep visits and updates current. Complete and submit Round 4 Sponsor Post. Visits current and then some; sponsor post done. This week: Visits; try for a few extras. Read Monday post.

  • Empty email inbox and maintain below 333 messages. This week: Finish emptying box; maintain. Continuing to maintain throughout the day; hoping to establish a routine I can manage even during NaNo. This week: Maintain inbox and habit.

Hometending:

  • Homeschool Administration: Complete all pending paperwork. Draft IHIPs and attend to district’s Peer Review issue.
  • Continue decluttering/beautification projects; in home and/or yard, five days weekly. Continue making improvements to our home and our quality of life. Lise’s room, living room, kitchen, family room, porch, bathroom, and yard. 5/5 days this week. This week: Continue.

Lifetending:

  • Continue planning/ attending outings and events as desired. Gearing up for doctor’s appointments and our Halloween trip to New Jersey. This week: Begin firming up plans, dependent on the repairs to my car.

  • NNWM local group: Attend write-ins regularly, and check in on the Facebook and Twitter groups as inspired. Read and critique both projects I’ve been hanging onto.
  • Complete the two beta reads I’ve had waaay too long. Completed initial readthrough of Beta #2, bolding areas to comment upon. Contacted author; percolating. This week: Return to this on Monday, and complete.

  • My beloveds: One on one time with each, doing something of value to us both, several times each week. Yup!

Selftending

  • Write in Abundance,Intentions, and #onegoodcup journals seven times each week. Meditate seven times weekly, including one eating meditation. Explore one new meditative practice. Journals 7/7. Meditation: 8/7. Floral arranging as meditation. This week: Journals; eating meditation; meditation.

  • T’ai chi practice: at home five times; class twice. Continue reading The Tai Chi Directory, and adding movements to my at-home practice. Read more of the directory. This week: At least two at-home practices.

  • Make time for physical activity six days a week; use phone app to track three time a week. Activity: 6/6; Tracking: 5/3. This week: the same.

Leaps of Faith:

  • Poetry Chapbooks

  • Website/Business blog: early brainstorming with my Accomplice.

  • Fantasy convention

  • Fan fiction stuff

  • Self-publishing

    1. Mostly, it is a wonderful life I never imagined….but, like all lives, it has its moments of less-than-wonderful.

Just lately, it seems that life is rather determined to keep me on my toes and spice things up with a whole mountain of unexpected variety!

Which can, of course, be rewarding in a whole other way! =D

  1. You have such a full & rich life it’s lovely to see how you make time for the most important things to you. For a while hubs and I were taking Tai Chi classes together, but it seems lately we’re lucky to just fit daily walks into our schedule. I may have to investigate our options in our new home so we get back to that. Thanks for the nudge. 🙂

    1. Due to circumstances, I haven’t been to class in a few weeks, now, and I miss it. My Accomplice and I have a vague plan to attend together at least once, as a date.

My girl and I were going for nightly walks for several months, but changes in our sleep/wake cycles and the weather have made that less frequent, the last week or two.

I hope you find options where you are. We’re finding other ways to connect, too.

      Happy to nudge you! =)

    1. Not as much as I had hoped, but still – I’m pleased. I’ve got high hopes for this week – I haven’t had all my Sunday posts up so early in weeks….and now, I’ll be getting ready to sleeeeppppp…..

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
