The Magic of Today: #OctPoWriMo Day 4

If you love to write poetry, you love a good poetry challenge, and you are missing April’s NaPoWriMo then you are in the right place. There are now multiple Novel writing months it is past time we added another Poetry month. October is a great time to challenge poets to a poem a day for thirty one days.

This October, I’m also focusing on gratitude, so each of my poems will use the daily prompt, and deal in some way with thankfulness. Come join me on this poetic journey – and feel free to comment, or link your own poems.

For October 4th, the OctPoWriMo prompt is Magic – whether the wand and sorcery type, or more everyday. I went with the magic of today, because I always benefit from a wondrous perspective on my everyday life.

I decided to try my hand at haiku today, linking four together- one for a moment with each of my three beloveds, and one of my very own.

The Magic of Today

Alone with my girl

Sharing soft shifting thoughts as

Rosegold dawn paints night.

Waking to coffee

Warm sunshine and my lover

The day is aglow.

My son almost grown

His smile bright as autumn sun

Strong arms and willing hug.

Sun paints long shadows

Across lawn and through flowers

Tending them brings peace.

I am myself. I own my life, and live with three other people who own theirs. My intention is to do only those things that bring me joy, and to give myself wholly to those things I do. Writing has been my passion throughout my life, and this will become the home for my writing life...because it brings me great joy!
