Growing Through A Restful Pause: June 24, 2015

Paddles Up….and….Rest a While! =D

ROW80 Round Two will be officially “put to bed”

less than 24 hours from now.

Spring has shifted into summer….

is your garden blooming, literally, literarily, or figuratively?

Are the weeds choking out the healthy growth?

Did time get away from you, leaving you with seeds galore,

but nothing actually sprouting?

I’ve had a productive round. I didn’t finish everything on my list, but, then, I prefer having options that allow me to be flexible more than I love be able to say, “I finished everything on my to-do list!” I’ve made some solid progress, and I’ve learned things. So, for me, that’s a definite win!

Since I set monthly goals this round, you’ll notice that my Next Up heading is still here – I’ve got June left. If you want to know how the rest of my month pans out, check back on Monday for my Ready. Set. WRITE! Update.

Because I like to keep my posting rhythm:

  • Sunday, June 27: Round Two progress.

  • Wednesday, July 1: 2015 progress.

  • Sunday, July 5: Round 3 goals.

  • Monday, July 6: Round Three Starts!

And now – My Final  ROW80 Round Two 2015 update!

Color-coding key:

  • Goal attained (for the session, or the round) = blue with overstrike.

  • Goal in progress (for the session or the round) = green.

  • Goal-in-waiting (for the round) = red.

A little behind due to weekend travel; but gathering steam to finish this draft… Next up: Continue on….and finish, not worrying about scenes per day; just writing.
  • Sea Changes (KIC#3): Complete all planning and plotting; ready to go when Generations is complete. Nothing new this session. Next up: Complete plotting and setup by the end of June.

The IDIC Romance:

  • Compile 2015 Story A Day May  stories with existing The IDIC Romance stories, in chronological order. Nothing new this session. Next up: Compile new #STaD stories chronologically into existing IDIC Romance Scrivener file; fix errors in 2014 story layout.

Trueborn Weft Series:

Editing:

  • Complete revisions for “Slow Jazz Awakening” using Rock Your Revisions, and submit. Scene 12/16 notes complete. Organic adaptations to general to-do list for next revision pass. Next up: Continue rereading scenes and creating detailed revision notes; create revision pass plan. Finish notes by end of month.

Blogging:

  • Complete all sponsor visits on time; visit 3 other blog hop and challenge participants each day, on average. Finished sponsor visits; fairly on par with blog hop visits. Next up: Continue; focus on the weekly hops; I’ve fallen down on these…
  • Clean up/update blog sidebar. Two new widgets added; three widgets deleted; several rearranged. Next up: continue until I’m satisfied with the status of the widgets in my life. =)

Hometending:

  • Continue with hometending. At least 5 days weekly; include decluttering and yard projects minimum of 3 days. 3/5 days; 1/3 yard/declutter. Mowing; packing and un, laundry and a bit of general tidying. Next up: Keep on keepin’ on.

Letters of Intent submitted. Next up: Submit Annalise’s test for scoring; create Jeremiah’s Peer Review form by month’s end.
  • Catch up Email. Dealt with first actionable item; moving toward that mythical 2,500 mark…. Next up: More. I’ve got a long way to go. Finish the weeding and answer all actionable items by the end of the month.
  • Scan, save, and organize Arizona Photos. Nothing new this session. Next up: Rehoming, wiping, scanning, organizing.

Lifetending:

  • Continue one-on-one time with all beloveds; online and in-person writerly socialization; time with friends; social media. Time with my three live-in beloveds, and dear friends. Some blogs visited and comments answered. Next up: More.
  • Expand and extend in ways that feel natural and challenge without forcing. Try two new things each week. 2/2 Art All Night –  the next morning!) in Trenton, NJ with Jim Woodman and the girls. Much more peaceful than Saturday night. So much so that I was able to relax, and not get stressed as leaving time approached with all its uncertainty and tangled emotion….for the first time ever! Next up….some more new things.

Selftending:

  • Continue physical activity and exercise – 5 times/week at minimum. 3/5; 2 walks (and the art festival); hometending; and mowing. Next up: More moving; more tending; more exercise; more t’ai chi.
  • Attend t’ai chi once to twice weekly. One at-home practice move per week. This week’s move: Cloud Hands. Nothing this session – sleep schedule off, and very tired.
  • Meditate/Intentions journal thrice weekly. 1/3: Meditation,1/3: Intentions Journal exploration and writing. Next up: Keep on with these.

Adding in, because I forgot to list it with my June goals…

  • Enjoy #onegoodcup daily. So far, so good. Every day, in a variety of ways. 3/7 for the week.

  1. Definitely a good Round! I have graduation parties this weekend, so I am a little glad of the ROW80 break. Won’t be online much this weekend, less than the usual. Grilled on the grill for dinner tonight, first time this season, now it feels like summer. Maybe I can move into my summer goals now (the non-writing ones). Heheheh…

    1. Parties – wahoo! We’ve got an annual camping trip at the end of July, and birthdays, so we’ll have some fun, too.

We haven’t broken out the grill yet. Every time my Accomplice thinks about it, it rains!

I tend to bundle all my goals together. That way, when I’m not writing, I can still feel like I’m moving closer – and everything does tend to feed everything else, for me.

      Enjoy the shifting pace! =D

  2. Well, I just spent some time in the garden yesterday, pulling weeds. We have some beans, peas, and cucumbers coming up.

Always good to make progress. Looks like you’ve made a lot of it.

    1. I haven’t gotten any veggies planted, but my flowers are coming up like crazy, with all the rain and sunshine…

I’m not exactly keeping up with the weeding and planting, and the mower went kaput….but I may be doing more in the coming week…

Enjoy your veggies, and your last few “days off” .

  3. *smiles* I know I’m the voice here of only reader, but I really felt this was a lot easier to read, Shan. Things like the art festival (what art festival? Sounds fun), and the steady progress for your #onegoodcup (something I desperately need to get back to… I’ve even been missing my one good pet with Fluffle and Mr. Kitty, because of interruptions and distraction… thanks for the reminder)….

Well, anyway, things like that offer something to cheer about and it’s nice to be able to see them clearly. Thanks!

    1. It was Art All Night in Trenton. Here’s a link: http://www.artallnighttrenton.org/

Sunday was much better than Saturday night. It’s a big part of the reason we chose last weekend to go- we’d heard about it a couple of years ago, and wanted to check it out….

Happy to be able to remind you about #onegoodcup. =)

I’m glad for your input on the overstrike or lack thereof. I was on the fence, so you really got me to make the choice.

      1. Finally got a chance to look over the website… WOW! I’d really like to try going to that sometime too (and since Dan was talking about a trip to NJ someday….)

        1. It was phenomenal. Saturday night was incredibly crowded, the music was loud, and there was alcohol and the behavior that can go along with it…Sunday was much better, and there was time and space to actually LOOK at the artwork, explore, shop…

I’m thinking 5am would be a beautiful time to be there.

I took a huge number of pictures, some of which I will – eventually – be sharing…

  4. My garden–well, if you can call the few potted plants on my balcony a garden, which I do–is doing fairly well. I’ve been harvesting fresh basil the past few weeks, so my Italian dishes have been seasoned with homegrown herbs; the peppers are doing well; and the geraniums are blooming. The peas…well, we’ll see if they survive the heat.

This round went slower for me than usual–moving craziness, revision woes, etc. slowing me down–but I still accomplished a few things and made progress, so that’s good. Sounds like you did a lot. Happy summer, Shan Jeniah! Catch up with you next round. 🙂

    1. Your garden sounds lovely. I have garlic I havent’ harvested in years. I’m about on a par with the weeds, and not planting as quickly as I’d hoped, because life.

I’m pleased with my progres over this round. It wasn’t as fast as I hoped, but I’m also aware that I tend to be very idealistic about speed (and, fortunately, also flexible enough to adapt when reality doesn’t comply with that ideal…).

See you in a couple weeks! =)

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
