Round Two Goals: Natural Growth

ROWing into Round Two!

Can you believe it’s time for ROW80 Round Two? I’m having a weird feeling of being very ready, and not at all ready, all at once.

Ever felt that way?

I came home from a write-in last night, spent some private time with my Accomplice – and then our daughter vomited – so it was an odd night, with her feeling weak and queasy, and me not feeling much better, whether out of sympathy or because we have the same thing, whatever it is…

But enough about that. It’s time to ROW!

Round One was my Revisioning Round – my chance to explore and stretch and get a better sense of where I’m going. I accomplished a good deal. But here’s the thing…it felt a bit too forced, too rushed, like there was always more waiting for me than I could get to.

I want to embrace my goals, instead, and nurture them while they nurture me, in a symbiotic relationship. I want there to be more joy, and less stress.

So, I’ve winnowed and shifted my goals, and I’m ready to adapt, if I feel an unnatural pressure forming. This is my Expansion Round, and I’m looking not for rampant swelling, but a more natural growth. Like a plant or a baby, where growth is the nature of life.  

As usual, I’ll share my April goals at the first check-in. I’ll update my progress toward those each Wednesday and Sunday; movement toward Round Two goals at the end of each month; and 2015 goals at the end of the round -80 days from now!

With all that in mind…off we go, to sow some seeds!


Write1Sub1: Draft one story, and submit one, each month.

  • I’m counting my CampNaNo Kifo Island Chronicles novella projects for April and June. May will see 31 new stories. I will revise and submit “Slow Jazz Awakening” in April; “Peach Liqueur Love” in May, and possibly the next compilation story from The IDIC Romance in June.

Kifo Island Chronicles: Draft 3 novellas, using Cathy Yardley‘s Rock Your Plot.

  • Transitions (KIC #1): Currently in drafting. Scene 6/24; 12,794/~30,000 words.

  • Generations (KIC #2): Currently in planning.

  • Sea Changes (KIC#3): Currently in brainstorming.

Star Trek Chronology Project: Rewatch Star Trek: Enterprise.

The IDIC Romance: Draft 31 new stories for Story a Day May; post stories or excerpts from each, daily.

  • Story plotting reverse-engineered and rewritten. Resting at present; awaiting next revision pass.

Blogging from A-Z  travel posts: Complete all, on time.

  • Still drafting. Scheduled through April 6; drafts through April 10.

Trueborn Warp/Weft Series: Select July project and plot, using Rock Your Plot  and/or The Snowflake Method (read this book).

  • This is likely to be a June project, primarily.


The IDIC Romance: Complete revision and submit “Slow Jazz Awakening.

  • Story plotting reverse-engineered and rewritten. Resting at present; awaiting next revision pass.

Write1Sub1: Revise “Peach Liqueur Love” using Sarah Selecky’s Deep Revision  process; choose final short story to revise in 2015.

  • This will be a back-burner project that will get done in bits and pieces. I’ll likely do the bulk of this in June.

Social Media:

Blog Maintenance: Keep regular posting schedule, comments, and visits.

Blogging Action Plan: Revise plan; overhaul Lovely Chaos sidebar.

  • Likely to be done in fits and starts as time, energy, and focus permit.

Share posts – mine, and others’: Share generously as inspired!

Explore social media as it fits with life and writing.


Continue with near-daily decluttering/beautification projects; begin shifting some energy and focus to the yard.

  • I’m dropping the specifics; just going with the flow of what seems most relevant.

Homeschool Administration: Complete third quarter homeschool reports for both kids, due June 15. Letters of intent filed, and Annalise’s standardized test ordered, administered, and returned, by July 1.

  • By the end of the round, we’ll be in full-on end-of-year/ beginning of year mode. This will be a May/June focus.

Photo digitalization: Scan Arizona travel photos; save in organized files with backup.

ROW80: Submit sponsor post; keep visits up-to-date.


Kindle ebooks: Read 3, and write reviews for 5 books on my cloud written by writers I know.

  • This might be a bit too ambitious, with my other projects; we’ll see.

NNWM local group: Continue attending write-ins whenever possible; interact regularly online.

  • This is an easy one. I love my group! =D

Starfleet: Fill out application and attend at least one USS Albany group meeting.

  • Keeping it simple, because I’ve got a LOT else going on!

My beloveds: One on one time with each, at least four times per month, doing something of value to us both.

  • Keeping this – and them! – as a priority. ❤


Meditation: Experiment with guided/unguided meditation and intention journal twice weekly.

Workouts: at the Y or a strenuous activity at least twice weekly.

Practice: Resume t’ai chi or yoga classes by end of round.

  • Fell by the wayside in a bitter winter; time to indulge!

Intuitive Eating:

Read and begin considering.

  • 32% read. Lots of pondering.

I am myself. I own my life, and live with three other people who own theirs. My intention is to do only those things that bring me joy, and to give myself wholly to those things I do. Writing has been my passion throughout my life, and this will become the home for my writing life...because it brings me great joy!

  1. Hugs to Annalise. Having spent so much of my life with tummy things, I very much empathize with her discomfort. And yours as well… it’s never fun or comfortable to be Mom in such a situation.

    Your goals however seem pretty much on target after a winter like the one we had this year… a lot of reconsideration, new growth, and even a sense of extreme possibilities. And outside, the world is saying “we’re doing this together”….

    1. She’s feeling a little better. She missed a playdate with the boys; she’s sad about that. She’s getting lots of hugs –

      And now Jim is sick…and possibly Miah.

      At least the worst of it only lasted several hours, for her. She napped a lot of the day, and she’s not really eating much yet, but her Liseness is coming back.

      I and the house really missed that. She tends, as you know, to occupy spaces rather fully, and it’s obvious when she’s not doing that.

        1. It’s lasting longer with Jim. And here he had a three-day weekend, and got sick.

          Miah is OK. He gagged on Dr.Pepper, because he tired to breathe it…thought it might be connected, but apparently not, since he seems to be feeling fine. We’re going to skip the workout today, though, and might not stay at Java’s long tonight.

    1. We think she just ate something that didn’t agree with her. She hung on the couch all day, napped a lot, didn’t eat, and is feeling a little better. We’ve stocked ginger ale, saltines, three kinds of straws because she wanted some, and a Monster High balloon to lift her spirits. She’s talking about taking a shower, and says she’s feeling a little better each time she wakes up.

      She missed a play day with her cousins, though, and she’s sad about that. They go to school, and weekday playtime is a rare treat.

      These are pretty pared-down goals for me. It’s going to be a few months of larger projects and challenges, so I’ve decided to let a lot of the little stuff go, and make everything more flexible.

      I love having options, though, because I was born with a restless and energetic brain!

      I’m always impressed with your ability to have only a goal of two, and focus on them consistently. My brain? Not adept at that!

      Hooray for the challenge that gives us all the freedom to be as we are! =D
