Movable and Inspiring Nest: December 14, 2014

Wanna ROW with us?

Hey there! How are ya?

The kids and I have been visiting our dear friends, the Woodman family, since late Thursday. We live in upstate New York, and they live in central New Jersey…but Skype and text chats can only go so far, so, a few times a year, we load up the Outback and make the five-hour drive to our “second home”.

No one gets much sleep, but a tremendous amount of fun is had…the pictures will say it better than I can!

Writing is not as prolific for me, here – too many wonderful other things to do, and, after all, it’s not why we came, even if Sylvia is my personal patron of the arts and loves to have my typing away at her kitchen table, on the guest bed, or in her living room…so, while there is writing, the focus narrowed to blogging, the kids’ reports (nearly done, and due tomorrow), and my NaNo WIP, which is getting close to the resolution scenes, and still surprising me…

But the inspiration? That will ride home in the car with us, later today, and be with me for some time to come…be on the lookout for many, many words in the next week or two!

Here’s looking at you and yours, Sylvia Woodman! You guys make me a better me! =D

Do you have personal friends who inspire you to go more deeply into your passions? Have you let them know what that means to you?

Author:

I am myself. I own my life, and live with three other people who own theirs. My intention is to do only those things that bring me joy, and to give myself wholly to those things I do. Writing has been my passion throughout my life, and this will become the home for my writing life...because it brings me great joy!

  1. Awesome daily word counts, Shan Jeniah. Sounds like you had a wonderful visit with friends–and ice skating sounds like fun!. Many of my close friends live far away, so I cherish any time we get to spend together. As for inspiring people, my husband is a great source of inspiration. He’s my best first reader and the person I turn to when I’m stuck in my plot. He helps me find solutions I probably couldn’t think up on my own.

    Have a great week!

    1. I’ve definitely slowed down since November ended, but I’m no getting own to those last few scenes, and it’s coming together well (maybe better than any of my other WIPs at this point). I’m excited to see how it’s all going to turn out, since the characters have taken me to places never dreamed of in my original plan…

I don’t ice skate, and actually missed the skate, since the two boys weren’t interested in going, and I stayed home with them. I did get some writing done, and pitched in to do some cleanup,.

A five hour drive every few months, is worth the price to me – we come away filled up.

It’s wonderful that you have that in your husband. My Accomplice is often inspiring, even when he doesn’t know he is! =)

  2. Oh, those inspiring friends and extended family members! They are the reason I have only finished two rough chapters in the past month. But I wouldn’t change that. The only writing deadlines I’m on are self-imposed, and at the end of the day I’d rather have later books and deeper friendships. Right on, SJ.

  3. It’s so wonderful to spend time with friends. It sounds like you had a wonderful time 🙂 I haven’t seen any of mine in quite a while – my fault really. Except for the girls, I’ve become something of a recluse. Perhaps in the new year I could do something about it!

  4. I have to admit I skipped Second Serving Sunday for the book review but I still hop around and have a look at yours. Take care and have a great week!

  5. Wow, Shan. Your list of goals always amazes me. 🙂 I know you said you’ve been tracking your life that way for years; it still boggles me.
Anyway, it looks like y’all had a blast with your friends! And ice cream volcanoes? Now I need to make some, too!
I think that’s probably a sufficiency of exclamation marks, though, so I’ll stop gushing now. I’m positive you’ll finish out the Round with most, if not all, of your goals in the green. 🙂

  6. what fun trip – to your second home – and I really like how you said tho”the inspiration? That will ride home in the car with us…”
    cheers 🙂

    1. It totally does! So worth the drive (filed with music, conversation, and writing thoughts for me when the ids sleep)…and the not much sleep while we’re here…

Hope you’re having a lovely weekend, too!

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
