So, July is nearly over. Tuesday was my 45th birthday. Friday was the 11th anniversary of our baby boy Elijah’s death…and I had a nasty case of food poisoning which rendered me all but useless from Saturday to Monday. I am much better, but still tired, and taking things easy.
But enough of that. Now, it’s time to move forward. On Friday, the children and I are planning to attend a free outdoor performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, presented by the Saratoga Shakespeare Company. We saw their Hamlet a few years ago; I’m excited!
And it’s time to examine my July goals, and set my course for August…
July Focal Areas:
CampNaNoWriMo (overstrike) Target attained!
Homeschool Administration On target.
Blog Maintenance and Exploration (this really was pushed aside for writing and living)
August Focal Areas:
Chameleon’s Dish Revision
Social Media/Blog Design
Focus on layout and design aspects of my Blogging Action Plan.
Play with Web Lab app; goal is exploration and experimentation. Nope. I explored options, nothing more.
Get the Kristen Lamb social media wizardry ball rolling. Nope. Story consumed me; life took what was left.
Start planning new website, using input from previous two goals. Perhaps obviously, no.
All layout/design goals will be carried forward into August.
Build positive blogging habits – post regularly, build queues, answer comments, and share diversely.
Maintain regular posting schedule; queue one post for each regular feature. On target (mostly) for posting; nothing queued as yet.
Develop a sharing strategy that feels natural; incorporating input from Kristen. On target for sharing; no input from Kristen as yet.
Continue interacting through comments; expand and diversify my willingness to comment. Target attained!
All blogging habits goals will be carried forward into August.
Complete rough drafts of To Be or Not to Be, The Stars Are Fire, and Perchance to Dream.
Continue drafting Perchance to Dream during July NaNoWriMo. Target attained. Not quite two-thirds of the way through the draft.
This goal will shift to writing at least 750 words on this WIP daily through August, or until the draft is completed.
Complete first revision pass for Chameleon’s Dish. This was not an active goal for July.
This will likely be an August/September goal, since I currently have 8/60 scenes revised.
Continue physical and virtual hometending plans – resetting rooms, cleaning files, and inhabiting my study.
Continue the family room reset. No, not really. Too much going on, with camping, birthdays, and the attendant chaos.
Clean out email files. On target I didn’t get to many, but I’m now making a more concerted effort.
Continue reclaiming my study. Nowhere close. I’m not even sure I’ve used my study this month!
Develop new habits that support organization and productivity.
Experiment with Daily Writing Frames from Round 1. On target; although this was mostly organic, and interrupted often by life.
Develop Daily Hometending Frames. On target. Some intermittent progress, here.
Set aside time weekly for administrative stuff (Adminstrative Frames, maybe?) More or less on target; attention given intermittently, but weekly.
All existing hometending goals will be carried forward into August.
Complete all required homeschooling documentation, testing, and reporting. Tis the season for major homeschool administration, so here it is.
Mail Annalise’s End of Year report.
Complete Jeremiah’s PASS test and submit results when received.
Complete fourth quarter reports for both children, and submit by 9/15.
Complete 2014-2015 IHIPs for both children; submit within 4 weeks of receiving confirmation of LOI packet.
Stretch and find new ways to blend the facets of my life with intention and awareness.
Select and complete projects from my Play Jar. Nope – unless it counts that I looked at the jar a time or three…
Make plans to meet with at least 1 person on my get-together list; get in touch with at least 2 more to express my wish to reconnect. Target exceeded!
Indulge in days with both children, at least one date with Jim, and one with myself. Spent Annalise’s birthday with her, but didn’t manage any of the others.
All intention and awareness goals will be carried forward into August.
Seek out playful new ways to move and challenge my body.
Plan a monthly family excursion that involves physical activity. Target attained with Unschoolers Rock the Campground.
One workout at the Y each week. So close – there but for food poisoning….I missed this week.
Continue exploring fitness goals – more on this throughout the round. Target attained; specific goals follow.
Treadmill: 22 minute walking mile using “Rolling Hills” program. Not quite.
Recumbent bike: 8 miles in 30 minutes, using an interval program. Not quite.
Weights: At the Y; minimum 3 machines for arms, legs, and torso weekly. Target met or exceeded for all but this week, when I was too sick.
Nutrition goals for July:
Consume minimum five veggie/fruit salads and/or fruit smoothies each week. Target exceeded except for this week, when I scarcely ate.
Consume Greek yogurt and nuts minimum twice weekly. Target exceeded, until this week.
All fitness and nutrition goals will be carried forward into August.
ROW80 Sponsor duties:
Visit my “2”s every session.
Revise/complete my sponsor post and submit by August 1 – yes, I am late. July can do that. I do have an almost complete rough draft.
