Muted Popcorn Play -ROW80 Update 1/20/14

Well, it’s Monday, and I am getting to my ROW80 update a day later than I intended, due to a sick weekend and photo editing delays.

Being a bit late with the reporting isn’t the same as not having anything to update. It’s been a bit of a popcorn session, for me – ideas are exploding into fluffy goodness, and I’m making progress with my playful approach to my goals. The next weeks may be very fertile ones, as these ideas gather and coalesce.

So, what’ve I been up to?

Play Jar Update:

I’ve completed two more of my play jar slips this week:

  • #80 Leave a random gift for a stranger: I left five dollars at a fast food cash register, to be applied to the next guest’s order.

  • #27 Draw Tacivaarii in Lynxform: My first effort looks more like a longhair domesticcat than a wildcat. Still, I put pencil to paper, and made a beginning…and that was the point.

I have four more slips in progress.

2014 Blogging:

Focus on layout and design aspects of my Blogging Action Plan.

Tidy my Master Features Resource file. On target.

  • All weekly features now tidied.

Build positive blogging habits – post regularly, build queues, answer comments, and share diversely.

Answer all comments on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. On target.

  • Yes, roughly on schedule.

Return visits to all commenters, as standard practice. On target.

  • Visited all recent

  • Exploring the best approach; still have a waiting list.

Resume my regular blogging schedule with Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday posts across the three blogs.On target.

Brainstorm what I want in a website; move The Unfettered Life to a spiffy new home.

  • Visit five writing websites; consider what I do and don’t like about them.Pending.

2014 Writing:

Complete rough drafts of To Be or Not to Be, The Stars Are Fire, and Perchance to Dream.

Complete rough draft of TBONTB.On target.

  • 1,553 new words/two scenes written.

  • Chapter Fifty-Eight complete; Chapter Fifty-Nine in progress.

Draft two more novels in the Trueborn double series, as NaNo projects.

  • Freewrite on the ideas I’ve had for the unwritten portions of the story.Pending.

Explore my gestating Star Trek: Enterprise fan fiction novel concept, as well as the Last House story collection concept, in the form of short pieces or flash fiction, during April and May.

Create basic plan for the Last House stories (2014 A to Z April Challenge).On target.

  • First step taken; alphabetical list of 26 protagonist names – one per story.

  • Create Scrivener file; list basic facts for each protagonist (age, gender, physical characteristics).Pending.

  • Create basic timeline for Enterprise fan fiction (2014 Story-a-Day May). Pending.

2014 Editing:

Complete first revision passes for Chameleon’s Dish and Bounded by a Nutshell; make pre-revision notes for Blood and Breath.

Draft rough revision plan for Chameleon’s Dish, using Rock Your Revisions. On target.

  • Added checklists for the scene revision pass to my CD revision notebook.

Check out NaNo Now What Months features in preparation for MarchNaNoEdMo.On target.

Complete pre-editing notes for Bounded by a Nutshell.On target.

  • I am currently at page 318/734.

Revise all poems for QOMIS, until satisfied with the results.

  • Read poems aloud, highlighting for revision.Pending.

Complete Deep Revision process with my three short story WIPs.

Read through completed exercises, and my work for “A Splash of Red.” Target attained!

  • This brought thrills and chills as the story came alive in new ways!

  • Using Kurt Vonnegut’sGalapogos, do Part 3 “Comfort Zone” exercises for “ASOR”. Pending.

2014 Hometending:

Continue physical and virtual hometending plans – resetting rooms, cleaning files, and inhabiting my study.

Continue the family room reset.On target.

  • Basic decluttering; more computer desk excavation.

Spend time daily in my study.Target attained!

  • This is becoming more routine and natural; reclamation well underway!

  • Clean up main documents files. Pending.

Develop new habits that support organization and productivity.

Experiment with play project schedule.Target attained.

  • Mostly happy with a mostly functional set of Daily Writing Frames.

Research small business establishment /administration.

Fancifully soaring!

2014 Lifetending:

Stretch and find new ways to blend the facets of my life with intention and awareness.

Select and complete projects from my Play Jar. Target attained!

  • 4/80 complete; 4/76 in progress.

  • Details above.

  • List people I want to connect with this year.Pending.

Seek out playful new ways to move and challenge my body.

Choose one playful motion for each day in January; do it several times throughout the day, with a spirit of adventure. On target.

  • Military presses with two 15 ounce cans; high-stepping in place; t’ai chi breathing pose; yoga tree pose.
