Home, and Tending Pending: ROW80 Update, July 18, 2013

Curious? Click the icon!

What is ROW80, you ask? Why, it’s Kait Nolan‘s baby, The Writing Challenge that Knows You Have a Life!

It’s been a week since I posted an update. I weathered Elijah’s tenth birthday that wasn’t. Now it’s Elijah’s Days, July 13-25, which will culminate with the anniversary of his death, four days before my birthday.

The children and I were camping this weekend, and many things were set aside for the duration. So this week will be about catch-up and hometending.

There was a lot of social activity over the weekend, and I’m more pensive than chatty, so that’s about it for now.

So, without further ado, here’s what I’ve been up to, and what’s on tap….

Week Three Goals are in bolded blue; Week Two Options in bolded black.

Tousled and happy by the Atlantic, 2009.

I am myself. I own my life, and live with three other people who own theirs. My intention is to do only those things that bring me joy, and to give myself wholly to those things I do. Writing has been my passion throughout my life, and this will become the home for my writing life...because it brings me great joy!

  1. Great pictures, and so impressed with your word total! I agree with Alberta, seemed like a lot of progress to me. (Oh, and your kids are beyond cute!!)

    1. Tia,

I tend to have this idea that I want to do everything, and to forget that I am a mere mortal.

Truth is, we got to the campground at 6:30pm Friday. I slept on an air mattress that had a leak, and had to pump it up every hour or two, when the sharp rock under my shoulder blade woke me (bought a new one on Saturday…and it POURED that afternoon, right after the kids collided while trying to jump the creek, and both they and the 6×6 foot beach towel landed in it instead…

Fortunately, we had a drier tent, which I set up in heart, humidity, and mosquitoes while the kids watched the magic show at the lodge.

Sunday, I developed a migraine, and it was HOT! So glad I insisted that some of camp needed to be broken before dark, because there was some thunder and lightning, and Annalise does not enjoy storms in a house, let alone a tent under huge pines….so after a long day, packing up and the five-hour drive home…

I guess it’s not so surprising that I needed some time to be ready to really write.

As for the kids, thanks. We think they’re really cool to live with, and I love taking pictures of them. Looking at these was fun, since they are four years older now.

  2. sounds like you managed a lot despite life – well done and wishing you all the best – last but not least here’s hoping camera becomes well again – no pouting now

    1. Alberta,

It always looks like more when I list it out than it seemed in the midst of it. As for the camera, it needs spraying with air cleaner, and I didn’t happen to have any on the beach at the lake. Sunscreen the kids wanted but never used, yes, but no air cleaner!

It’s good that you reminded me but I really wanted pictures of the mermaid tail the kids made for me!

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
